Cubic, blocky, and industrial, the grate grid bench is a study in the basic utility of an object. 

Utilizing industrial galvanized steel grids and recycled foam offcuts, the design strips back function to its basic and tries to find beauty in the most basic of materials.

The design minimizes damage to the original items leaving them ready to be used again for something new or for their original purpose.

This piece takes a look at how waste footprint could be minimized by using a widely available industrial product in a way that retains its original use and in material that is almost endlessly recyclable.
